Lynne Feehan
Lynne is a licensed Canadian physiotherapist with over 30 years of clinical experience in hand therapy working in a variety of clinical settings. She received her BScPT (1979) and her MSc in Physical Therapy (1987) from the University of Alberta in 1979 and her PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies (2007) from the University of British Columbia. Lynne is currently a Post-doctoral Fellow in the department of Physical Therapy at the University of British Columbia researching early microstructural hand bone changes in people with newly diagnosed rheumatoid arthritis.
Lynne has several publications including chapters and peer reviewed scientific publications. She has also lectured extensively in hand therapy in Canada and internationally and is currently a reviewer for both the American and British Journals of Hand Therapy, for Physiotherapy Canada and Archives of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She has received numerous professional, academic and research awards including the AAHS Vargas International Hand Therapy Teaching Award (1996), Senior Honored Professor at Surgery and Rehabilitation of the Hand meeting in Philadelphia (2010), a Full University of British Columbia Graduate Scholarship and Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research PhD and Post-Doctoral Fellowship training awards. Lynne has also served on the board of directors for the American Association for Hand Surgery (1991-1993 ) and is a Past-President of the Canadian Society of Hand Therapy (1994-1998).
Her involvement with IFHST includes Chair of the Organizing committee for IFSHT 1998, in Vancouver Canada and Chair of the Bylaws committee from (1998-2004), Treasurer (2004-2010) and President-Elect (2007-2010). Lynne looks forward in her current role as President (2010-2013) to working together with the rest of the IFSHT executive committee to continue to enhance international hand therapy networking and educational opportunities.
