Patricia Rappaport
Patricia received her Master of Physical Therapy degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia USA in 1997. Her initial professional experience was at a rehabilitation hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina as a member of the Spinal Cord Injury Team. In 2000, she had the good fortune of working with Roma Bhopal at Princess Margaret Rose Hospital in Edinburgh, Scotland and so began her dedication to Hand Rehabilitation. Upon returning to the United States, Patricia continued her hand therapy practice at Duke University Medical Center in North Carolina. At that same time she was able to pursue an exceptional opportunity to work with Judy Colditz on continuing education projects in the field of Hand Therapy.
In 2007, Patricia became a Certified Hand Therapist and currently practices at Alta Bates Medical Center in Oakland, California. In addition to her clinical work, she is an Assistant Clinical Professor at The University of California at San Francisco teaching Hand Rehabilitation to graduate students of Physical Therapy.
Patricia is a member of the American Society of Hand Therapists as well as the ASHT- California Chapter. In addition to attending local and national meetings, she has frequently attended international meetings including those held in Sweden, Scotland, Australia, Canada, and the USA. She has traveled extensively throughout the world and has a particular interest in promoting hand therapy on an international level.
When she isn’t skiing or riding her mountain bike or backpacking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, she can be found at home near Berkeley, California enjoying the company of her husband, Steve.
