Ursula Wendling
Ursula graduated in 1974 from the University of Basel (Switzerland) with a MSc in biology and was involved in the marine biology research at the University of Zurich and in France at University Pierre et Marie Curie in Banyuls-sur-mer. Since 1979 she is also a licensed swiss physiotherapist with over 25 years of clinical experience in hand therapy.
She spent several years working in the department of surgery of the University Hospital and in a private orthopedic clinic in Basel. In 1988 she opened her own practice in Biel together with her husband, a hand surgeon. She was certified as a Hand Therapist by the Swiss Society for Hand Rehabilitation (SGHR/SSRM).
In the 1990’s Ursula became involved in the Swiss Society and a board member for five years. She served as a member of the Swiss Certification Commission from 1994-2003. In 2005 she was elected as member of the Scientific Committee of the European Federation of Societies for Hand Therapy (EFSHT) and in Orlando to the office of Secretary General of the IFSHT.
Ursula was also involved in the organization of several national and international meetings and congresses and was the chair together with Sarah Ewald for the EFSHT Meeting, Eurohand 2008 in Lausanne (Switzerland).
Since 1998 she has been teaching clinical continuing education courses for therapists and gives guest lectures in national and international meetings and congresses.
She lives in Biel, a little city in the western part of Switzerland and is a passionate diver and sailor.
